UCPS Review: MJ Mallon, YA Author & Poet: I’m delighted with the formatting and cover design service I received from Colleen Chesebro @ Unicorn Cats Publishing Services. She did a great job designing a cover that matched my latest book; The Hedge Witch & The Musical Poet perfectly. She gave me a range of cover options and I just knew when the cover was right!

The formatting service was carefully done with special care and attention to the placement of the poetry, as well as the all important front and back matter, ensuring that the end result met my high expectations. Nothing is too much trouble for Colleen, she will work with you to make sure that your book is to the standard you would expect from a professional publishing service. Highly recommended.

MJ Mallon, Poet & Author

UCPS Review: MJ Mallon – YA Author & Poet

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all well. Today, I’m here to talk about cover designs.

Two years ago I dived headfirst into the world of publishing. Thanks to a very supportive WordPress community, I was able to avoid drowning in this vast writing industry; just about. Today I review one of the tools that has kept me afloat, and even given me a few swimming lessons to better navigate this creative literary ocean: Colleen’s Unicorn Cats publishing services. I have only used the Unicorn Cats cover-design services so far, but in time I’m eager to employ their formatting expertise as well.

Because writing is my dream, I can be a little overzealous, even stubborn, when it comes to what I want, or what I think can be achieved. I am grateful to Colleen because she’s very patient, and has excellent interpersonal skills. We share a voracious appetite to learn and grow and I have appreciated learning loads from her. Yes, when you use Unicorn Cats, you do learn things.

Colleen is very professional but also very kind, keeping time, promises, as well as being extremely flexible. Trust me, flexibility is very hard to come by in the creative industry.

With an ever deepening knowledge in design, a will to satisfy the customer at almost all costs, and a strong foundation of ethics, I’m hard put to find any negatives.

Being relatively new in the industry, there is still some room for Unicorn Cats to grow, but that room is fast being filled.

While I originally won a free design for book 2 in the Realms of the Mist trilogy, that cover is yet to be published. This is because after seeing a sample of what Colleen could do, I quickly contracted her to take on the entire trilogy, as well as re-do the cover for Crossroads (Winds of love). I LOVED both covers.

We are currently working on the cover for book two of the Realms of the Mist trilogy. Designing covers for a series is challenging, but with Unicorn Cats services, I know we’ll find a way somehow.

Colleen is a wonderful supporter of the writing and poetic community—check out her poetry blog with weekly challenges: Word craft poetry.
